           NIGHT MOVES – Late Night Pilot Programme..

An innovative & dynamic programme designed to provide new & engaging night time cultural experiences across Drogheda & East Meath. Produced by Droichead Arts Centre, and delivered with curators SJ McArdle, Brian Hegarty/33-45, Brenda McComesky & Dorothy Smith, promoters & alternative venues, and in partnership with Love Drogheda BIDS, supported by the Arts Offices in Louth & Meath County Councils, and the newly established Night-Time Economy Advisor in Drogheda. This programme encapsulates our vision of extending cultural offerings, fostering partnerships, & creating diverse opportunities for artists & audiences alike, & is funded under the Arts Council’s Late Night Events (Pilot Programme) in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.

Night Moves encompasses six distinct programming strands.

Night Tones at Droichead: Immerse yourself in meditative and ambient sounds with artist Ógy Collins leading the audience on a journey of active listening through texture, tone, and atmosphere in our gallery 

Night Moves at Droichead: A series of 3 late-night clubs transforming every corner of Droichead Arts Centre into a captivating space. 

Night Moves Trad Trail: A series of 9 free gigs across three bars/venues in Drogheda - The Pheasant, The Punt and Barney Macs. 

Night Moves in East Meath:  Curated by local band The Cacks, this series will also include special guests in McDonoughs Bar and Coffee House.

Night Moves at McHughs: In collaboration with thirtythree-45 & supported by Big Moon Records, a showcase of experimental music gigs.

Night Moves Conversations: Late-night conversation & music with award winning musician, Scott McCloud at Sarsfields in Drogheda.

Night Moves hopes to further enrich the cultural fabric of the region. It will support local, national & international artists & creatives, working with a wide range of venues & other spaces to foster a thriving creative community.

Night Tones | Droichead Arts Centre |19 Jan & 29 March 9.30pm & 11.00pm | €10

An immersive ambient music event with a live set  from local musician and electronic virtuoso Ógy Collins. Presented in the round in the Droichead gallery space Night Tones will happen in two sessions, the first with a yoga session by professional teacher Elaine Tobin and the second as a deep listening experience.  BOOK NOW FOR THE 29 MARCH

Night Moves at Droichead kicks off on February 2 with musical guests RTÉ Folk Awards Best Group nominees Greenshine, a Cork based trio consisting of Mary Greene, Noel Shine and their daughter Ellie. With special guest  Seanie Vaughan. Also featuring visual artist Vivienne Byrne, and DJ Timmy Tra

Night Moves at Droichead continues on 8 March with a special evening of conversation and music for International Women's Day with pioneering alternative rock musicians Miki Berenyi and Deb Googe, hosted by Sinead Ni Mhorda, with support from Aoife Wolf. Miki and Deb came to prominence during the shoegaze /alt rock scene of the late 80s,early 90s, Miki as a guitarist & singer with shoegaze band Lush and Deb as bass player with the highly influential My Bloody Valentine.

The final NIGHT MOVES at Droichead features Lisa Lambe and Steve Cooney. Lisa is one of Ireland’s best-known performers, described by the Irish Times as “The finest singer and actor of her generation”. Steve Cooney was given the RTÉ Folk Awards 'Lifetime Achievement' Award in 2020. With support from Farah Elle and David Sanclair. Farah Elle has played Vicar Street, Electric Picnic and All Together Now as well as collaborating with renowned Irish folk musician Liam Ó Maonlaí for a performance commissioned specially for the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.  BOOK NOW FOR THE 3 MAY

Night Moves in East Meath | 22 March & 19 April | McDonough's Coffee House & Bar | 10:00pm (Doors 9:00pm) | €10

Legendary alternative folk/roots/rock seven-piece The Cacks present two very special gigs in heart of East Meath, each one featuring a hand-picked guest who will perform alongside the band’s multi-instrumentalist lineup.

March 22 sees The Cacks team up with Dutch-Irish songwriter Jane Willow, a gig which will see them join Jane’s impressive list of collaborators to date: her debut album Burn So Bright features Joe Csibi, Dave Hingerty (Glen Hansard, Kíla) and Steve Wickham (The Waterboys). And for the final gig on April 19 special guest will be Sive, a songwriter and musician dubbed 'one of the most inspiring and exciting artists of our time' by Female First UK. 

Night Moves TradTrail | The Punt, Barney Macs, and The Pheasant | 9 Feb, 15 March & 26 April | 10.30pm |  Free

TradTrail features the very finest local and national traditional acts across well-loved bars in Drogheda, The Punt, Barney Macs, and the Pheasant, across February, March and April.

Along with other acts to be announced, February 9 will feature Snakebite, a musical duo comprising Mick Hussey (guitar & vocals) and Mick Dunne (mandolin and banjo), and on April 26 Louth fiddler, composer and singer Róisín Ward Morrow will join forces with frequent collaborator Breifne Holohan breathing new life into ancient melodies and developing Róisín’s own haunting compositions.

Tradify with Drogheda’s very own Darragh O’Heiligh will play all three dates, creating an irresistible soundscape, where the bold rhythm of the Bouzouki, the mesmerizing harmonies of the whistle, and the powerful presence of uilleann pipes intertwine. 

Night Moves at McHughs | 1 March & 6 April | 10.00pm (Doors  9:00pm) | €10

March 1st sees a very special double-bill consisting of beloved Galway songwriter Ultan Conlon and legendary Dublin improv jazz adventurers The Bonk, “A band playing with music at the end of its tether”. Vital, witty, mysterious and compelling ,The Bonk have released two acclaimed lps on Drogheda’s thirtythree-45 boutique music label.

Another Night Moves exclusive on April 6 is THE DSM IV, one of the most electrifying live bands in the UK at the moment! Supporting both Sleaford Mods & The Libertines across their French & European tours respectively, offered them a chance to hone their craft, spread their wings & bring their mesmeric performances to audiences, that responded with rabid enthusiasm. Headed by ex ‘80s Matchbox B -Line Disaster’s‘ Guy McKnight and playing incendiary shows with their own unique & inimitable cocktail of visceral music – electro beats, poetic rock n roll guitars, uncompromising storytelling & performance- woven into new anthems for those who love the real thing. Support from I Dreamed, I Dream, a genre-blending five-piece band from Cork.  BOOK NOW FOR THE 6 APRIL
